Volunteers

Many hands make light work and without the support, energy and passion of our volunteers, the convention weekends wouldn’t be as fun as attendees want.

Volunteers undertake at least one shift across the duration of the convention. This could be in any of the following areas:

  • Facilitator/Session volunteers
  • Front desk volunteers
  • MC for the open stage

Read more about what these volunteer roles are all about below.

Requirements

What do we expect of our volunteers?

  • Volunteers will be working alongside Convention staff to ensure everyone is finding it really easy to find or check in to sessions.
  • Facilitators feel supported and are kept on time for their sessions (starting and finishing).
  • If something goes wrong, to communicate with the Convention crew so we can get thing back on track.
What do you get?
  • A free session at the convention! (Either the one you are assigned to, or a separate one if your shift is in another non-session area).

Sound like something you’d like to do, then all you need to do is hit the apply button just below and fill in the form. We’ll be filling the schedule up as people apply, so if you’d like to secure your spot, jump on today!

Applications close on 24th May or when all spots are filled, whichever occurs first.

  • Shifts are available across the whole weekend from Friday afternoon through to Monday afternoon.
  • Length of the shift is from 10min before the session start to 5 min after the end of the session you are assigned to, or if you are assigned to the Front Desk.

Nope. That’s right! You could be a non dancer, a family member or friend who just wants to support their dancer!

  • Facilitator volunteers will mark off names and help the facilitator with their needs during the session.
  • Front desk volunteers will help greet and direct people, book them into sessions, and other tasks as directed.
  • MC Open Stage will be announcing acts before they perform and also letting people know about the stalls in the room.

Yes! Let us know and we can issue you with an engagement contract and completion documentation.

Volunteer positions are a donation of time.

However you do get the bonus of being able to participate in the session you’ve been allocated to, or being able to attend a session for free if you are on the front desk.

You can let us know where you’d like to be and we’ll take that into account when assigning shifts.

For sure! Just let us know and we’ll put you in for more than one shift.

We can’t wait to invite you to join the Australian Belly Dance Convention family!
